He scored another hattrick today, just like that. Make no mistake, if we somehow bring him back theres no doubt he still has another 2 or 3 years of scoring like a loon. His reputation alone would make 80% of the league be beaten before we set foot on the pitch.

Lots changed in 6 years, the guy is widely respected now. Never really got the credit he deserved at utd due to the abu factor.

He did the right thing by joining a club who at least showed some ambition to challenge Barcelona at the top. We on the other hand until last summer spent 5 years filling our squad with garbage and playing some of the most shit, do-a-job football i've seen. Then fergie picked the managerial equivalent of typhoid mary to manage us.

i think in a way we'd have been worse off had he stayed. in the years when united were taking great pains to avoid spending money on anyone, we'd have ended up a serious one-man team, relying on ronnie to pull us out of the shit time and time again whilst the squad deteriorated further.

that said, ferguson may have retired earlier than he did.
