He did the right thing by joining a club who at least showed some ambition to challenge Barcelona at the top. i think in a way we'd have been worse off had he stayed. in the years when united were taking great pains to avoid spending money on anyone, we'd have ended up a serious one-man team, relying on ronnie to pull us out of the shit time and time again whilst the squad deteriorated further.
that said, ferguson may have retired earlier than he did.
