Default Copa America 2024

Argentina keep the core from the world cup, Uruguay under Bielsa have looked excellent, Ecuador and Colombia very promising also. Brazil have been in all sorts of trouble but they usually are and end up winning the thing.

Opening game tonight, Argentina v Canada (Martinez starts) kick off 6 minutes late so far and had one of the most bizarre pre-match prayers announced in both Spanish and English, "God bless the Copa America..some Jesus stuff also"

Garnacho starts tonight, kicking off in around an hour and a half. Martinez has looked good both games and is now first choice with a view to the World Cup. Elsewhere in the tournament Uruguay under Bielsa are flying, Pellistri has bagged two in two. Yanks look like they're going home and the knockouts begin this week, could be tasty with Brazil in second place in their group.

A word about this steaming pile of shit stadium:

Big Quayd was there on Tuesday to watch Argentina break the hearts of those Malvinas collaborators Chile with a last minute winner. Never again will I hear a bad word said about Old Trafford, this was the worst stadium experience I can recall. Took a full 30 minutes to get out of the stadium from tier 3, couldn't pay for anything pre-game or HT because the card machines didn't have internet and they wouldn't accept cash and if it rains good luck. Took two hours post match to get back to New York despite being five miles away, could have walked it in less. They're holding the WC final there

They shouldn't be hosting a world cup full stop. It's a £#%&!ing joke that a country which barely takes the game seriously is going to have hosted two world cups in 30 years when countries like Spain and England have had one world cup in 90 years.

I won't be staying up until £#%&!ing 3am to watch some game in £#%&!ing Kansas or wherever.

Foreign countries having stuff in their own cultural paradigm? Crazy.

Do they know nothing about sausage egg and chips?

It was the content of the prayer not the prayer itself, what did you make of it?

Not sure how that’s been allowed. Unless there’s a player out of picture. Baffling.
