Enjoyed that. Loads to build on. Think Gareth got all the big calls right again. Hard to see past the lads from here on in

They now have a must-win game next where they have to figure out who is their starting midfielder for the rest of the tournament, how long has this idiot been in the job?

Top of the group with the easiest game left.

Whisper it.

Couldn’t think of a better team to knock them out.

There’s no easy games at major tournaments and I think that’s being shown. There are levels we can reach, with and without the ball, but it’s a sign of a good team that you can get results when you’re not playing well. We’re top of the group and we’ve all but qualified. I know there’ll be loads of noise and a bit of disappointment at home, but we experienced this when we drew with Scotland in the last Euros. It’s a time to stay calm, reflect and try to improve. Step by step, we’ll get there.

We’re struggling with and without the ball. The pressing in both games hasn’t been quite right, and with the ball we haven’t been good enough – that’s from top to bottom, from me to Picks. It was tough out there with the heat and the pitch. It wasn’t our greatest game but we got away with a draw.

It’s not just when we score that (we drop deep). It’s something we need to get better at. When the teams drop a few players deeper we’re not sure how who’s supposed to be pressing. In the second half we tried to change it a bit with me and Jude playing in front of their two midfielders and then trying to get up. But it was difficult: credit to Denmark, they’re a really good side and they carried a threat.

Imagine the captain of a serious nation coming out with this in the middle of a tournament

Even the lesser known teams in this tournament have put in high intensity attacking performances .

Been one of the best international tournaments in a very long while. Trust England to be one of the few teams that create very little and defend deep

Sort of makes it look like England only did well for a few years because everyone else was shit.

Apart from Scotland in that first game against Germany, England have been the biggest mess i've seen so far in this tournament. A disjointed, badly coached mess.

It's like watching England back in the late 80s, no cohesion or any idea how to move the ball up the pitch, just knocking it long and playing percentages. It's absolutely rank.

I picked England to have a shocker of a tournament because it was blatantly obviously given the terrible form they've lurched into Germany with. Beaten by Iceland, beaten by Brazil, Drew with Belgium all lacklustre terrible performances. No left back, no left sided attacking player and a manager who's so utterly conservative he makes Jacob Rees mogg look like Johnny Rotten.

They'll be dumped out at the first knockout stage absolute no question about it.

Did Southgate just say "We don't have a replacement for Kalvin Phillips"??
