Dreadful management.

His Alexander-Arnold experiment was abandoned after a game and a half. His Gallagher experiment was abandoned after half a game.

And he’s only conducting these experiments because he couldn’t bring Kalvin Phillips or £#%&!ing Jordan Henderson

Can't wait till they play a semi decent team....

Out.

Home.

0; German bombers...

An embarrassment, YET again to the tournament and last group game

What I don’t understand with Alexander Arnold ( and correct me if I’m wrong I don’t follow England that closely) why did he wait for a major tournament to try him out in a position he doesn’t really play?

Surely in the last what 4-5 weeks he has seen the likes of Mainoo and palmer who can carry the ball forward? He is trying not to upset one of foden saka Bellingham and Kane.

As a result it’s #@&%!ing it all up. If even switch saka on the left and tell him to play as a traditional winger with his left foot.

Foden comes inside and so does trippier , there is no width on one side of the pitch and it makes it easy for the opposition to defend against because the ball just gets moved into a congested area.

The real stupidity with it all is he has talented players on the bench who can improve.

The pass and weighted touch from mainoo at the end there was so good. If palmer wasn’t so greedy it could have played in mainoo who was through on goal

You can see why he gambled on Shaw, we've no width on the left at all without him. If he gets fit it'll make a big difference. They'll also look better against teams that don't sit back so much.

They need to improve quickly.

This is what happens when the bloke who's blagged his way through several tournaments actually has to show his managerial nous and find ways around problems. He can't.

Southgate has never been anything other than an average manager who's very good at being sensitive to player relations, says all the right things in front of camera, never anything controversial and presents a very good image. That's lovely if you're running a PR company, but he's the highest paid international manager in the world. And he doesn't have a clue what he's doing.

England have lurched into this tournament in absolutely shocking form, couldn't score against Iceland and managed two goals in 3 games in a mediocre group. They're going out in the next round, doesn't matter who they play - they can't score for shit because the manager is a buffoon who selects ridiculously unbalanced teams.

If they play a decent side , they'll get well beaten by 2 or 3 goals. Even if they play an average side, they won't be able to score and probably go out on pens.

They look a side that desperately needs fresh ideas and someone brave enough to make bold decisions and stick to them.

He’s got to commit to it the way the Italian did last night. Instead he was incredibly tentative.

Still showed more than enough to be forcing the estate agent to change his approach.

Mainoo though

It couldn't be worse than the football.

Neville there was weird saying we need to find a way to fit these players in (Foden etc...). Surely he sees that is the problem. You don't have to find a way to fit them in. You pick a system that should work and then you pick players who fit that system and know their role. Not just trying to squeeze your supposed star players into positions they don't understand.

They have these big brainstorm sessions on the tv after the game dissecting everything - why can't they just say that maybe the bloke who's only managerial achievement is relegating Middlesbrough might not be that great?

I still can’t believe he actually admitted he’s gone into a manor tournament ‘experimenting’

I think if you’re going to shoot rather than play in a player who is ina. Better position who all but guarantees you a goal you better score from your chance.

Tbh even if he manages to properly test the Gk. it was timid and ruined a chance.

Still think palmer should start with mainoo next game too. Both were much better than an of the lot I’ve seen that have started for England so far
